Threads of Connection…
This hidden forest is the heart of why these places matter. It is what we lose when the saws move in—not just the tall, photogenic silhouettes, but the living web beneath them. Once disturbed, it does not simply bounce back. The layers collapse, the moisture changes, the species shift, and the story that took centuries to write is erased in a single season.
As I continue designing this book, I find myself returning again and again to this truth: the beauty of Old Growth is not just in what we can see towering above us, but in what thrives quietly below. And if we are to speak honestly about these forests, we must acknowledge both worlds—the majestic and the hidden—because together they are what make these places sacred, irreplaceable, and deserving of protection.
